Summary:  Utilize the latest in remote submarine technologies to search the seas for shipwrecks from the comfort of your gaming console or computer. Several years ago, one of our people was recruited to work on a remote-controlled submarine project for one of the largest firms in the world. Since that time, there has been an explosion in the number of efforts that are being made to create submarines that can explore or travel without requiring people on board. From an applications standpoint, there is no greater thrill for many people than to get involved with a underwater search and salvage operation. Our application is designed to allow interested parties to actually drive the submarine and search for shipwrecks in places like the Mediterranean sea. The platform that is being developed allows for realtime control and will feature a claw or robotic arm control that will allow the user to pick up and examine objects. Best of all, if an individual item is recovered that is not subject to claim by a country, that item will belong to the finder. If the item is found to be part of the wreck, the finder automatically receives a decent percentage of the salvage from the wreck. The application should offer a lot of excitement for never having to leave your couch or desk chair.

Important Note:  We are committed to obeying  all laws of the sea and working with academics and governments to preserve historically significant sites.  If a wreck meets those criteria, we will likely open opportunities for players to work side-by-side remotely with undersea archaeologists to survey and excavate the site if appropriate.

Competitive Environment:  As many of the purveyors of mini-sub and remote submarine technology are still developing their
systems, there have been very few companies that have moved ahead to finding applications that appeal to an audience wider
than hobbyists or researchers. As of now, there are no other firms that are involved in developing a similar application.

Technology:  Our platform consists of low cost mini-subs outfitted with sophisticated communications and a robotic arm or claw that can be used to explore.  The subs will interface with a topside boat that will relay communications.  The application itself will be internet-based and able to run through a browser or through a gaming console.  Users will be able to see a variety of statistics about their surroundings and control lighting , movement and depth, the camera (to take stills) and a robotic arm.  Eventually other analysis tools will become available.

Keys to Success: To be successful, it will be important for Treasure! to be accessible to many people simultaneously via a gaming console and the internet. This means extensive load testing of the communications modules will need to be done prior to launch. Another key will be the level of promotion that is achieved. If there is enough exposure, it will be a very
popular way for people to spend time. Choosing the general areas to search is also a key consideration.

Risk: One of the largest risks that exists would be downtime loss of equipment due to failure or inexperience.  To mitigate concerns, we plan to modify inexpensive submarine equipment as well as require users to complete a tutorial/certification in a test pool before they go online.  In addition to providing them with hands on experience and teaching them the rules of the road, it will help them to optimize the time that they do use when they are in the open sea.  They will also learn how to work within an acceptable anthropological framework instead of  pursuing looting, something that will be codified in the terms of agreement.
